Replying toSweepSwapdidn't even know that was physically possible
Same here, and tbh...let me explain this04:32So the first test was with the following Aether Reborn for 1.16.x and Aether II It didnt produce complete results, since its obviously differrnt bases, but it proved the following:04:34A) That Fabric servers would allow a Forge client to connect without combusting, but a Forge server wouldnt. B) That both players could see and interact with eachother C) That the aether dimension existed on both ends, and both players could enter it There was a lot of weird bugs, but were mostly because of item remapping and mixin differences. It was however enough proof that with a universal codebase, it would give a consistent experience. - C
Replying toSweepSwapthat can't be easy to just develop a mod for months on fabric using the fabric api and…
I mean for this, it actually was very easy...a few months ago. Before Incubus core, I had already done the work months prior to strip out fapi usages for vanilla usages, which were successfull. The part I got a lot of resistance on was with switching the codebase from Yarn to Mojmaps, which was a needed component for a universal codebase. That, and the fact that, if this theory came true, it would present unprecedented circumstances to us. Both the fact that ppl may get enraged that something like this has always been doable but noone else succeeded, and that it would have stolen the spotlight from Gilded Games (Who are already working on Forge ports), which was not my intent. Plus the additional fact, that the team agreed originally that we wernt going to be doing a Forge sided thing, and I effectively went in secret to build up my theory, which if it worked, would have costed a lot more resources to maintain.(edited)04:43As for incompatibility, for players, client side mods on bith ends worked fine in the initial tests. But from a development standpoint, in a world where most library mods rely on their respective modloader, it would have meant needing to in-house all our libraries, whuch at the time were but many, but as time has shown, have very much grown over time. It simply would not have been sustainable and would have led to major burnout.
