am allowed to ask for link for that mod so as to add alongside my pack with the aether? also, speaking of, do you guys provide rough ETAs on the next build to go to curseforge? (if nah, s'fine, I'll wait. excitedly.)
  2. meme_man_not_ava

Replying toHaven KingI very much like those textures!

Thank you! I worked real hard on making that, what you're looking at is a cube with a configurable texture that can be set to any block even if they're from other mods. Then there's another cube with the exact same position, rotation, size, etc. except this one is inflated by 0.01 and has a configurable gradient texture. This way I: A. don't have to make a custom texture for every crop, occasionally I might have to make a different color of gradient but that's it. B. I don't have to include someone else's block textures in my own mod as I can just tell the block model to take its texture directly from <insert_mod_here> itself.

I'm wondering, I haven't seen stuff like the freezer, incubator or enchanter yet, are those planned to be implemented as well?

Next beta release will probably in next 2 to 4 days

    👍 Looking forward to it!

Probably. The plan is to implement most if not all features present in the original Aether.
  7. rabidhyperfocus

i dont remember if yall had an answer for this but what are yall gonna do when 1.17 comes out?
  8. Haven King

    Probably update to 1.17
  9. rabidhyperfocus

    eh
  10. meme_man_not_ava

Considering the Aether does world generation, there might be a thing or two that get fucked up by the altered world height in 1.17
  11. rabidhyperfocus

    yeh
  12. meme_man_not_ava

So long as the Aether doesn't rely too much on vanilla minecraft functionality to determine island shapes and such(which I don't think is the case) it should be okay
  13. rabidhyperfocus

    cus its a good point
  14. meme_man_not_ava

if anything in terms of terrain gen is going to get screwed over then I expect it to be similar to what happened to the end in the latest snapshot: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/688863150337949777/826874242523856946/unknown.png
  15. rabidhyperfocus

this may not be on topic, but i remember having the nether higher mod and then that happening on my world
  16. Haven King

I might have to tweak the worldgen stuff a bit, but I don't think it will be major. If they make changes to entity rendering, that's what I think might take more getting used to, for our two whole entities 😛
  17. eydisxx

so if u place the cloud rabbits in the overworld
  18. Haven King

Yep, that one's a known issue. @Azzyypaaras fubbed the transformation matrices.
  19. cr24Team

it's actually fixed in the dev build
  20. AzzyypaarasTeam

@Haven King haven, please stop talking shit without any backing. Or should I remind you that your json fetish fucked up two of our biomes and you still haven't fixed them?
  21. Haven King

What? This is the first I'm hearing of this :tiny_potato:
  22. meme_man_not_ava

Replying toAzzyypaaras@Haven King haven, please stop talking shit without any backing. Or should I remind you…

I am very interested to know what on earth a JSON "fetish" is, lol I never liked JSON files from the moment MC started using them, can't imagine anyone having anything even remotely positive with JSONs, lol(edited)
  23. Haven King

Using JSON for worldgen has a number of upsides.
  24. meme_man_not_ava

oh god JSON for worldgen, didn't know that was a thing
  25. Haven King

    It's really not bad.
  26. meme_man_not_ava

I personally don't like it because it's hard to automate things from within my code
  27. Haven King

You could use ARRP or something similar.
  28. meme_man_not_ava

    :PatGasm:
  29. Haven King

There's also Artifice, similar project. I haven't used either, but people are pretty allegiant to one or the other.
  30. eydisxx

i am just amazed to listen, how u all discuss about coding.

  31. meme_man_not_ava

Replying toeydisxxi am just amazed to listen, how u all discuss about coding.

fun fact, this isn't even a complex conversation
  32. Haven King

We've hardly talked about coding itself at all lol
  33. eydisxx

i would love to watch how the prozess is, how to create a mob or object.
  34. meme_man_not_ava

I tend to lose track of what's going on when I see tons of different libraries functions and variables from different API's all mixed up together. I can't even begin to look at what's going on

Wisteria doesn't seem to be generating, but I can fix that. What else is broken?
  36. cr24Team

    Wisteria trees do generate
  37. Haven King

    The biome does not generate.
  38. cr24Team

Thats probably just bad temperatire weighting
  39. AzzyypaarasTeam

@Haven King the other problem biome is the thicket, they are just bare
    Image shared by Azzyypaaras
  40. Haven King

Cool. I'll see if I can find time to fix that later today.
  41. AzzyypaarasTeam

You know, it is nice to be here once more, had been a while since I had worked on this
  42. Haven King

    NOPE
  43. AzzyypaarasTeam

    Ah yes, please
  44. Haven King

    Already did.
  45. AzzyypaarasTeam

    Wiat
  46. Haven King

I mean the type has to be created and registered through code, but they can be configured through JSON.
  47. AzzyypaarasTeam

Oh, so I was right, you can't jsonify this :yeefuckinhaw:
  48. Haven King

I mean, I can make it more configurable via JSON...
  49. AzzyypaarasTeam

You know, it is kind of nice that you did not properly join archydra in the end, I would probably need to have a fucking mister by my side to spray you whenever you try to jsonify Journey's End
  50. Haven King

I'll never join as long as you insist on using crappy practices :tiny_potato:
  51. AzzyypaarasTeam

    Crappy practices? How hypocritical
  52. Haven King

    Excuse you
  53. AzzyypaarasTeam

I would be far more eager to make my biomes data driven if the process were less cancerous for both me and the user
  54. AzzyypaarasTeam

Replying toHaven KingI can reload biome, feature, and even dimension configurations without restarting the…

I applaud you, you have saved yourself five seconds
  55. Haven King

    Five seconds, several times over
  56. AzzyypaarasTeam

Furthermore, that is almost completely invalidated with dcevm
  57. Haven King

    Not at all.
  58. AzzyypaarasTeam

Reloading classes is, from my experience, often faster than /reload or reloading world
  59. Haven King

Biomes/features done via code are statically initialized once.
  60. AzzyypaarasTeam

Sincerely I can sum up the reason why I don't like json in one sentence. I cannot justify spending time and effort setting up ally my generation through json, which is much harder and... sincerely plainly uglier to work with than straight java code, and in many cases feels more limiting, when few to no modded players will ever actually use the ability to configure worldgen
  61. Haven King

I agree it is ugly and can be a pain.
  62. AzzyypaarasTeam

Because that is the main thing I see, there is a minuscule chance some modpack some time will decide to do custom biomes using datapacks. However the occurrences of such will be so far and few inbetween that it is just not worth it in my eyes. This is not vanilla where the only choice for customization are datapacks, if someone wants to customize stuff and they are a modpack maker they can just code an addon.
  63. Haven King

Replying toAzzyypaarasTo me, they most certainly do not.

    And that's fair, it's a matter of opinion 🤷‍♂️
  64. AzzyypaarasTeam

Certainly, however I am pretty sure the only person who could stomach and understand them enough to do that is haykam
  65. Haven King

    lol
  66. AzzyypaarasTeam

Oh also since you are here
  67. cr24Team

Data driven biomes are OP tho
  68. cr24Team

    Also wtf is that screenshot
  69. kalucky0Team

Replying toAzzyypaarasI applaud you, you have saved yourself five seconds

You have a very fast computer 👀
  70. AzzyypaarasTeam

Kal, your computer is very far out of the norm in regards to performance :3
  71. cr24Team

    agreed
  72. kalucky0Team

My laptop is only one decade old :iritat:
  73. 〘⚔〙

You are doing incredible work with what you have to work with, my dude
