  2. forbruligita

So, uhh. First of all, thank you! Now, the questions. Is aurel tree an untranslatable name? Is it based on the other word?
  3. cr24Team

it is untranslatable, we made it up completely
  4. forbruligita

    Good, I see.
  5. cr24Team

possibly it is a reference to the name Aurel/Aurelius but still is not really translatable, id leave it as-is or phonetically intact if possible(edited)
  6. forbruligita

    Understood, I'll leave it intact.
  7. forbruligita

Raghh, I wanted to make the name to sound like we name things from myths of Ancient Greece, but I need to stick to the official vanilla translation-(edited)
    • :sadcatzoom:1
  8. cr24Team

out of curiousity, what would you be naming them if you could
  9. forbruligita

Replying tocr24out of curiousity, what would you be naming them if you could

Like, outside of the whole "Aurel" name?
  10. cr24Team

    ah
  11. forbruligita

Oh. So, in my language, many things from the myths or legends have a little different "style" if this thing refers to a certain name. I have no idea how to make it clear in English... "Дерево Аурель", or Aurel Tree, is a normal one. But after you said it can be a reference to a name, I thought it could be translated like "Аурелево дерево", or, uh. Tree of Aurel. Or Aurel's Tree, something like that.(edited)
  12. cr24Team

oh I see what you mean
  13. forbruligita

About Mottled Aurel, should "mottled" be translated like "bright" or "spotted", e.g. spotted with gold?
  14. cr24Team

    spotted, blemished, marked
  15. forbruligita

    Got it, thanks.
  16. cr24Team

yeah bright is not a word I was expecting to be similar to mottled
  17. forbruligita

Replying tocr24yeah bright is not a word I was expecting to be similar to mottled

It's just the word provided by the dictionary having multiple meanings. Like, bright, colorful, full of details.
  18. cr24Team

    ah ok
  19. forbruligita

    A-
  20. cr24Team

mottled are the white aurel trees, mother aurels are the completely different trees
  21. forbruligita

    I fucked up a little-
  22. cr24Team

    rip
  23. forbruligita

Yeah, having an in-game reference would be so great.
  24. cr24Team

its supposed to be like "ancestor aurel", this tree is an ancient version of the regular aurel tree so mother of aurel maybe? if you have a better word that would work it should signify that it is a more important, older relative
  25. forbruligita

    Mhm, thank you!
  26. cr24Team

yeah that's the advancement for collecting a mother aurel sapling sorry lol
  27. forbruligita

Wow, you got a Matriarch advancement for finding a Matriarch Aurel, how unbelievable! I should find another way...(edited)
  28. forbruligita

Another question here! About the Grand Glade biome, does "grand" here refers to size or greatness?
  29. cr24Team

greatness... I think idk I didn't name that one
  30. forbruligita

Okay, I have a word for this.
  31. cr24Team

unless you have a good combination of levitation/levitating and soil/dirt/gravel/silt/material yeah(edited)
  32. forbruligita

Haha, the only one I can imagine is "levitavel", but I don't think it's a good idea.(edited)
  33. forbruligita

What is "Floestone" based on? I tried to translate the "Floe" alone, but it only gave me an ice floe...
  34. cr24Team

it's just a play on "flow" but also with the word floe
  35. forbruligita

I guess it'll be the last one before I go to sleep (translating at 3 AM may be fun, but not healthy): how can I translate the swedroot? What is a swed in this root...
  36. cr24Team

bastardization of sweet as in sweet-root
  37. forbruligita

Oh noes, not the bastardization- But okay, thank you.
  38. cr24Team

this one maybe could also be untranslated depdning on what you want to do, whatever works!
  39. forbruligita

40% of translation is complete now, yay.
  40. cr24Team

    Awesome thank you so much
  41. forbruligita

Replying toepicgamerso a play on your language's word for 'Gold' might preserve at least the same feeling…

Nah, in my language the word for "Gold" sounds just meh. And well, it's still Latin Aurel, not English Gold in original.
  42. forbruligita

    Russian.
  43. forbruligita

Heyy, does "cherine" refer to a literal name or have some kind of translation?
  44. forbruligita

    Well, same question for Olvite...
  45. forbruligita

Oh, and I really hope that "glazed" in "glazed gold" means glass-like layer, not, uh, sweet layer.
  46. forbruligita

I think I translated everything I could without asking, so translation is now stuck at 68%.
  47. cr24Team

cherine and olvite are literal names, and glazed does mean glass like layer
  48. forbruligita

    Replying tocr24anything else?

Well, yes. Amadrys, Bloodstone - I need to know everything about these ones. Another question is - how do I translate "Moa chop"? Chop means an already cooked product, doesn't it? Moonstruck race - should I translate it literally, e.g. "struck by the moon", or like a idiom, "insane"? What is the "Gliding Decay Rate" characteristic? If "heartiness" determines Max HP, should I translate it like "Health" or actually use a meaning of character trait? Does "crystal boat" refer to a certain material, or to any material with crystallic structure? And the (maybe not) final question: may I replace the names of advancements if it's impossible to translate them and preserve the original play of words?(edited)
  49. cr24Team

1.) Bloodstone is like blood testing stone or soul stone, checking the stats/soul of a creature 2.) Chop here is this definition per Google: a thick slice of meat, especially pork or lamb, adjacent to and often including a rib. 3.) Moonstruck is literal "struck by the moon" 4a.) Gliding Decay Rate is the rate at which a Moa loses height while flying (piloted by a player), and sort of correlates to gliding distance 4b.) Heartiness is health, so translating to health would be appropriate 5.) Crystal Boat is not supposed to be in there, I'll be removing that translation key so don't bother translating it. There's going to be a crystalline wood type in the future but it doesn't exist yet 6.) Feel free to create new names for advancements that make more sense, or if you have puns/play on words from your language that work better feel free to do whatever. Advancements can be whatever you want as long as the descriptions are still accurate to how they are earned
  50. forbruligita

The truly final questions: How do I even approach to translating "Halflight Cheesecake"? Is it about it being half-nutricious or... I don't know. What is a pre-grown moa egg?
  51. cr24Team

Halflight as in half-good, half-holy if that makes sense... it'd be like halflight's cheesecake as in halflights are a people, so not sure how best to translate
  52. forbruligita

    And...
  53. cr24Team

Amazing, thank you again! I'll be including it in the next update... release date tbd pending some final additions
  54. forbruligita

To be honest, I was pleased to translate this mod, because I really like it. Take your time, I'm glad it's going to be included at all!
  55. helowordd (check bio, please)

oh man i shouldve looked around this server before translating stuff. (though thankfully i only had to redo around 3 translations after seeing this thread because i did not realise swed was just sweet written differently)
  56. helowordd (check bio, please)

Replying tocr24cherine and olvite are literal names, and glazed does mean glass like layer

huh, i thought cherine was a combination of cherry and tangerine, because of the orange color normally and pink color when burning and since portuguese (the language i'm translating to) has similar words (cereja and tangerina) i just smashed those together and called it cerina
  57. cr24Team

Replying tohelowordd (check bio, please)huh, i thought cherine was a combination of cherry and tangerine, because of the orange…

this sounds fine to me, honestly not sure about where the name comes from since it wasn't a name I picked... cerina is perfect
  58. helowordd (check bio, please)

    Replying tocr24:hehe:

    thanks
  59. helowordd (check bio, please)

Replying tocr24for the cheesecake I don't really know what else I can give; Halflight is based on the…

    alright, i'll figure something out
  60. helowordd (check bio, please)

alright i think this is really dumb but i translated the half-light cheesecake as "torta de queijo semi-deoce", looks really dumb but could be read as "torta de queijo semi-doce" (which is one way it's called in portuguese, except for the 'semi-') but if spoken quickly it could sound like "torta de queijo semi-deus", which would literally translate to english as semi-god cheesecake it's the best i could do, but if anyone who speaks portuguese sees this, i'd be happy to change it into a better name
  61. cr24Team

that works for me, thank you so much for providing translations! I'll include this in the next update as well
  62. forbruligita

So, uh... What does "burnished" stone mean? Is it a kind of fire stone or... polished stone? Dictionary is tricky once again.
  63. cr24Team

    polished
  64. forbruligita

    And... done.
  65. Nightview

    where can levita be found?
  66. cr24Team

@role starting up this thread again :moapose:

  67. helowordd (check bio, please)

so, just to be make sure, the Burnished Stone Plaque is like a sign, right? or is it more like a hanging sign
  68. cr24Team

    plaque is like this
    Image shared by cr24
  69. helowordd (check bio, please)

oh so it is like a sign
  70. cr24Team

they are a new little spirit mob
  71. cr24Team

this definition is the most accurate from google: "the aspect of something regarded as the intrinsic and central constituent of its character"
  72. helowordd (check bio, please)

alright that helps a lot, i tried looking up quint and it was all related to 5 (as in quintuple), and i got confused because the texture in github clearly has 4 faces
  73. cr24Team

you know in retrospect making it have 5 sides would have made sense
  74. helowordd (check bio, please)

well apparently people used to think quintessence (5th element) would come with the other 4, so having 4 faces, all the same color, could kind of mean the 4 single elements are together and, together, turned into the 5th
  75. cr24Team

    nice yeah that works out
  76. helowordd (check bio, please)

ok now that i thought a bit more i'll make it Quinte, since a word ending with a t isn't really a thing in portuguese, plus it keeps all the meanings intact and the pronounciation would be the exact same, as we kind of add an 'e' sound at the end in foreign words that end with a t
  77. helowordd (check bio, please)

alright, brazilian portuguese translations are complete (other than adding the new stuff, i changed some stuff like Strawberry Wistar because i previously didn't get that Wistar comes from Wisteria)
  78. cr24Team

you are the first one!!! Thank you so much again
  79. helowordd (check bio, please)

yaaay! you're welcome and thanks too, this also helps me learn a bunch of words i didn't know (in both english and portuguese)
  80. Player_Bilo

i did a lazy translation to wisteria a year ago,not realizing it has a meaning in my language(edited)
  81. Player_Bilo

    i finally fixed them(edited)
  82. cr24Team

    swag
  83. forbruligita

Heyyy, I'm back here. Does Menth name derive from the Mentha genus? If not, can you tell me what it's inspired by? I... uh, I don't really want to transliterate this word. In our language the closest sounding one is "мент", and it's a mocking word that Russians call the policemen, lol.
  84. cr24Team

    menth is based on menthol
  85. forbruligita

Alrighty, I can work with that, thanks.
  86. forbruligita

It was the only thing I wasn't sure about, so... Russian translation is already done.
    • ❤️1
  87. cr24Team

oh actually theres a few more translations lol
  88. forbruligita

    And... done.
  89. cr24Team

    thank you!!
  90. forbruligita

Thank you for your work too!
  91. helowordd (check bio, please)

i just saw these messages and went to translate the new stuff. brazilian portuguese translation is done again!
  92. helowordd (check bio, please)
