I know the aether is owned already but I feel like the name "The Aether" could be used on anyway minecraft sky mod

but yes the Aether was the first skylands dimension mod but floating islands as a dimension type was a vanilla concept
we even used the leftover code for the skylands generator in the mod
but the glowstone portal activated with water originated with the mod
the original skylands entry method was going to be through your dreams when you go to sleep
elements of that concept and the dimension generation type eventually became the vanilla End dimension
(for those wondering/dont know their history, the Aether mod released in the Summer of 2011)
