I see what's happening: Golden cloud pulls you down, Blue cloud pushes you up. Because the blue cloud pushes higher than the gold cloud pulls, you get slingshot higher because of how the blue cloud calculates vertical velocity I'm guessing being interacted by both doesn't negate the effect because the blue cloud is more powerful than the gold.(edited)

if you're trying to use them as elevators space them a block apart

I will say the newer clouds are designed to have better applications towards increased velocity. Try with an elytra just flying through blue and yello aerclouds. Easy way to both gain terminal velocity and have most servers kick you for breaching the speed limiter xD
