Hmm the spawn restrictions (iirc) for other aether mobs are everywhere, but they can't spawn in leafy blocks... Maybe aether grass block or just aether grass is accidentally in that category?

Instead of being elemental, each color is stronger at one thing
Golden is generally strong, purple does more damage, white moves faster
