Version 1.21.1 on fabric is less popular than version 1.20.1. Mod developers don't want to update mods. Or maybe I don't understand how difficult it is to update mods. Can anyone find out what's going on in minecraft modding right now?

1.21.x has quite a few changes on the backend with components and serializers, as well as resource folder reorganization and item predicates and block/item registration(edited)
its just a lot of under-the-hood minecraft code changes that make it not too easy to update

it also depends on the scope of a mod for example BindCommands or Chest Colorizer most of the time don't need any changes to the code when changing Minecraft versions(edited)
but Primeval or Paradise Lost are much larger and interface with a a lot more Minecraft code which means that when anything changes there is a lot of fixes needed

Well, it's probably still unclear when minor updates will be completed. I understand that the modelers themselves are in the mysteries of where to update further.
