- ?14:46I was like 12 when they announced they were making it. I'm 23 now.(edited)14:46Just when Sonic, Mario and FNAF come along to make you think "huh, maybe we're in an era of decent video game movies" in comes Minecraft14:46nooooooooooo duuuuude π not like this14:47no wonder it was on the shelf for so freaking long(edited)14:47i was sure the movie would never ACTUALLY happen14:47should've never taken it OFF the shelf π14:47I bet Mojang only asked Warner Bros. to take it off the shelf because they NOTICED how Sonic, Mario and FNAF had really successful movies and they thought they could be a part of it π(edited)14:47oh lord... here we go...

- ?i mean, you're only saying "its not that bad" because you want to argue with the majority saying it is you want to be in the movie's corner and give it a fair shot because the majority isnt(edited)14:55if you hadn't been exposed to anybody else's opinions14:55(and i haven't as far as youtubers or anything)(edited)14:55you'd look at that trailer14:55and be like14:55"This does NOT look good"14:56but I'm not here to argue, I found a lot of people who agree in another server

- ?15:03i forgot the movie existed15:03last i remembered hearing about it i was like 1315:04anyway people are gonna rightfully dislike parts of this movie and you can't really dismiss that15:04they're sadly valid15:04realistically itll probably be a perfectly serviceable 7/10 family flick15:04and then people will leave the theatres like "i think i had a good time? it wasnt that bad?"15:04and then jump to defend it because everyone else is clowning on it15:05I just expect it to be REALISTICALLY bad, not atrociously humorously bad15:05but anyway I've said my piece on the movie haha. Now I guess we wait for it to come out.

Replying tokalucky0It's not that bad
I have some really mixed feelings, it's not that bad, but not great My main problem is that the art is not that consistent, entities are soft, but the swords are really thin and look like they were mixels, the blocks looked like they were made trying to look like some weird pixelart art times, but there are normal vines in some trees(edited)15:16Then there are like braches that are like β th of a normal block - K
Replying tokalucky0I feel like people had very high expectations
My expectations got high with the art of "fallen kingdom" and "story mode"(edited)15:18Not high as some "woah, this is world breaking" just like, I want something that seems like a mix between a game and a movie15:18Idk, like if we were seen an animated version of Minecraft dungeons15:19But dark as story mode - K

Replying toπbut anyway I've said my piece on the movie haha. Now I guess we wait for it to come out.
Hey, don't be down, some people are remaking story mode - ?15:24i'm fine lol
- ?also agreed. minecraft animations for YEARS have shown how the Minecraft community likes animated/cinematic Minecraft to look.(edited)15:24if you asked someone 5 days ago if they'd be okay with a live action Minecraft film, they'd laugh at you "what's that even mean? just like, a survival film with creepers and diamonds?" if you asked the same person today, they'd have to scramble some defense for why it might not be that bad, because uhoh, now it actually happened its just the unthinkable and I can't help but feel like "this is real???"(edited)

- ?I just know I'm probably not gonna care enough to see it. I don't have a friendgroup who is gonna be like "Guys, JACK BLACK, we HAVE TO SEE IT." "Plus like, it's LITERALLY THE MINECRAFT MOVIE! Even if it's bad, we ARE INDEBTED TO THE BRAND, WE MUST SEE IT!!!"(edited)15:34If I watch this film, it will probably be years after it comes out, and it WILL be piracy, just like I did with the Sonic and Mario movies. I didn't get caught up in the excitement of those coming out either.(edited)15:34I mainly feel bad for the people needing to spend time in their lifespan creating this film, especially because I ALREADY know I won't be giving them any of my money. :/(edited)15:36and I'm not about to give them my money because I feel bad either. Hollywood is not a charity case.(edited)
- KLet's just wait it doesn't happen the same thing with Nintendo, that after failed attempts for a movie adaptation, they didn't want to come out with a film15:37Just recently we got the Mario movie and it was a miracle that that came out because how Nintendo is

Replying toπas a zelda fangirl i would just fucking despise a grimdark zelda movie
I was just saying it because of what I've seen of Majora's mask, and the concept ideas of tears of the kingdom - ?

- Cim a bit late to the convo but I saw this on twitter and 100% the movie should have looked like this https://vxtwitter.com/chonzodraws/status/183136640218550685016:04live action video game movies for games with non-realistic graphics is a mistake unless they make it happen in the real world (ie sonic)16:08dark zelda would be cool, a new story could definitely be taken more serious than the games historically have and im not sure its fair to say zelda should just be simple. Making the dark undertones in zelda more prominent with the same weird mythos that some of the darker games have had would be cool i have to agree with Kuroko on this one
- ?16:17This blind Jack Black hype just makes me wish Marvel movies kept their China-only scenes because I could purposefully demonstrate my point with them, but nobody even knows about the scenes I'm talking about. there's a few Marvel movies that have additional scenes in their Chinese version this additional scene is usually a Chinese actor that the Chinese internet REALLY LIKES making a cameo, and they just remove those cameos from the American cut because nobody is going to understand. It would have the opposite reaction to what the Chinese audience would have. "Who is this guy? Am I being marketed to?" but if a Marvel movie had one of those scenes where the cameo guy they encounter is JACK BLACK, everyone would be like "haha its our boy Jack, he shows up everywhere" which is exactly how the Chinese audience reacts to their weird actor cameo scenes it is 1:1 the exact same thing in different cultures, and people who are like "Yooo Jack's gonna be in this movie? We gotta see it!!" have been sold to.(edited)
