- Fi'd like to point out that 1.19.1 which was meant to release on the 28th is not released02:39it seems everyone got their wish
- C02:40And from their twitter, it isnt going to be expected this week either.
- F02:40and i'm actually sick of this discussion and people saying "you'll get banned for swearing" (which is not true as of the last snapshot)

Replying toCDAGamingthis as well. For the record, I did not approve nor was made aware of @Azzyypaaras…
I posted it at the behest of @Solly - S

Replying toSollyYou can blame me for anything you dislike about it, but I stand by it.
I wasnt insinuating I disliked it, moreso to say that it shouldnt have involved PL as a whole, since the opinions of mod devs should stay that, shouldnt represent of the whole project - F02:44continuing the drama is just unnecessary imo

Replying toFoundationGames1.19.1 didn't release, mojang very clearly knows what they have done
this take I also dislike, as Mojang was not the only one behind this. This was msft enforcing the contract they made years ago when they bought mojang, or more so enforcing their policies in a restated manner. But I agree, the drama from it has been getting overblown in several discords thus far - S
- CI mean at this point, its going to be implemented one way or another (Since not doing so likely would be breaching msft's orders to mojang), but the way it is going to be implemented is the part the players can vote for change on.02:47But to say it should be outright removed simply, from a legal view, isn't possible.

i meant the people who make and manage the game, i don't have enough info to assume that mojang and microsoft are these two separate entities with some power dynamic between them02:47but when people are angry to the point where community managers and other figures are getting harassed and threatened online, you'd think they notice - DMy take on it is that thus far, it's proven to be extremely unmoderated and easy to abuse. People are getting unjustified bans, and they're not being properly reviewed by a human being. Servers like 2b2t are going to become ghost towns because of reporting abuse, and the kinds of people who went around hacking into smaller servers (one of mine was affected) are going to abuse the system as well.02:57It is not ready. Don't implement the damn thing until it's fully ready, and until you have the world's finest to moderate the reports, because Minecraft is literally THE BIGGEST GAME IN THE WORLD and you'd be a damn fool to kill it by not giving a shit.02:58Which, of course, it seems that Microsoft doesn't give a shit.

Yea, that "the games gonna be dead if they do <x>" also doesnt resonate. MSFT's done tons of shitty acts throughout the years and if anything, has only become more powerful. The vast majority of mc's audience are children who do not know any better and wouldnt care about the system one way or another. "fully ready" in the programming world also does not fundamentally exist. There will always be ways to abuse it, there will always be bugs. anything and every single piece of software you have ever used has never been "fully ready" because quite simply, its not the way our world works. - A03:02That the average mc player's age is ~20
- DFair enough, but they could still do a lot better than whatever the hell this is. At the very least, don't make it a global ban. Making it easier for kids who don't really know how whitelists work to ban people they don't want in their servers is definitely a good thing, but making it apply to all online play is just beyond stupid. That should ONLY apply if you report someone for something horrible, like grooming or doxxing.
- CI mean at this stage to all online play actually makes sense, since technically, this is bound to MSFT's services now ever since we migrated our accounts. MSFT accounts == we abide by MSFT's eula now, not mojangs. The reasons for reporting are almost the exact same that would get you perm banned of xbox live (And dont get me started on how difficult it is to appeal if you got as far as a perm ban) Should it be per-server, sure, but in my eyes, whether it be per-server or global should be determined by the chat context. If it went into illegal shit, sure perm-ban them as they dont deserve to stay nor should those type of ppl be in the game, even if it were in a joking manner. If it was something minor, like swearing, and wasn't overly offensive to the majority (Racisim, etc), then sure hit them with a temp-ban or per-server perm ban(edited)

- Ei don't understand what you gain by spreading false information. you can't be banned for swearing03:09yes, a global ban system is a bad idea in practice but it literally hasnt been implemented yet

this was a valid reasoning in an earlier snapshot, but yes it is no longer valid in the current RC - E
- DAbsolutely it should have context taken into account. Problem is that thus far, it doesn't seem to be based on user experience so far. But yk what, maybe they'll implement a more nuanced and moderated system. Maybe. As for abiding my MSFT's eula, the problem is that most players didn't even want to. I know for a fact most of the people I play with waited until they were forced to to migrate their accounts, and it's shitty that Microsoft enforced that. Sure, it's their game now and they can do that if they like, but players were given no choice but to agree to it.

Context is in theory taken into account - Ehttps://twitter.com/Shady_Inktail/status/1541163067576406019 there's just a ton of fearmongering going on, for example this
Shady #BLM #NoNFTs (@Shady_Inktail)
@MinecraftMeme16 We really do live in times where sending "h" in chat can get you banned on all platforms and from your own single player worlds so that you'd need to buy another account to keep playing. How absurd. - A

The main concern for it atm is most people think a perm-ban is going to be the only possible punishment. More then likely, this is going to be iterative, with other punishments added as the experience unfolds - A

1/2 No one in the community asked for the Minecraft Ban nonsense. It's a gross overreach on Mojang's and Microsoft's part. The fact you can get perma banned from multiplayer from censored swears and using all caps is ridiculous. I hope Mojang sees the backlash and thinks twice.03:12"perma banned for using all caps"03:13Flinks (@Thor41101855)
@mrincrediblejak @GoldLuminance @Minecraft They can ban for something as simple as WRITING IN ALL CAPS03:13another example - C03:13Personally also, ytubers such as FitMC also didnt help matters as well
- E
Replying toAzzyypaarasMmmm, we need more
i can pull up more examples if you want but i feel like this proves my point - DDude, you know that was literally on Mojang's website, right? They were the ones to say that all caps writing was a reportable offense. Sure, it's a stretch to say you'll be permanently banned for it no question, but it doesn't change the fact that Mojang said "this is an offense worthy of reporting".

No, it was in the community guidelines that "all caps can be seen as yelling", not "all caps is an offense worthy of reporting"03:15it was not part of the reporting guide page - D

I know, but the fact it was ever there is ridiculous. - E03:17Abuse of the Chat Reporting system You are responsible for the reports you submit. Knowingly sending incorrect reports to try to get another player banned, excessively sending irrelevant reports, or otherwise abusing the chat reporting system can lead to repercussions for your account. Do not incite others into using the chat reporting system for your sake.

this is really the only case i'm worried about - D03:20That's already been proven to be a shitshow on other websites, let's not make the same mistakes.
- CI mean the alternative is not reporting it, then seeing on the news both mojang and MSFT being sued if the parent desicdes to sue bc "Oh, they never did anything"03:21I can bet 100% there are parents that would do that
- D03:22You report someone for self-harm talk, and instead of a ban or a punishment, the player gets a message saying "Another player is concerned about your wellbeing and has reached out to get you help"03:23And the message has suicide hotline info and help links03:23It's not perfect, but it's better.

- EOh ok. I mean the hope is that at least these reports get checked by something other than an AI13:56maybe it depends on the message. I think for self harm and suicide 100% it should be checked by a real person13:56Also i hate the fact that Mojang can now tie those kind of messages to you, it can be an incredibly personal thing and if you're discussing on a private server13:57If this data doesn't get deleted on there servers I worry for what it could bring
- H
- EHave they spoken about how long the report data is kept as well? I imagine it's forever really which is concerning13:59Ah well. Mods are great for this kind of thing anyway. Looking into anti snooper mods as well(edited)14:00Tbh to disable telemetry sending all you need is one mixin14:00

I mean the same argument can be placed on any messenging service? We all have private servers in discord, yet there is proof that our messages get cached on discord's end for quite a while
