Amma be honest, I don't think there is a single good texture pack for mc that does not stick to 16x
Though to be fair, I am to texture packs what you are to mods, I have never used one for any substantial period of time and really I don't like any of htem
Or well, dislike is incorrect, I don't like them for playing, a lot of them are very skillfully made and look gorgeous, but still... nah

I don’t like the look of the game at higher texture res than 16x, too much “detail” without enough detail in the models themselves, which are just squares
But I don’t think that makes them “not good” either.

Eh, they certainly have technical skill behind them, they are well realized
But it is important to look good not only by yourself, but within your surroundings, and at that I feel they fail

I don’t know, I can’t agree with that, specifically with 32x. I think your argument holds water when it gets bigger than that
32x still isn’t something I’d ever play but I can’t say that it doesn’t fit the game or looks bad, I think there are tasteful ways to implement that and I’ve seen it done a lot of times
